Taylor University arrived in Taiwan at the simple request of Taiwan’s first lady in 1952. Coach Don Odle, former professional athlete, with the Taylor men’s basketball squad set their sights on reaching others for Christ. Both believers and unbelievers alike took notice of God’s rescue plan for humanity.

Coach Josh Andrews and the Taylor men’s basketball team set their sights on reaching others for Christ this year. Their week-long trip as Sports Ambassadors (SA) provided the opportunity to play all-star teams as well as reach youth in children’s homes and schools around Guatemala, AKA 'Chapinlandia.' An abundance of basketball talent and athleticism was leveraged for the Gospel and these outstanding young men earned a right to be heard. They honorably played basketball and many people listened to the Good News about Jesus Christ.

Several commented about how the classy 'Norteamericanos' reflected Biblical principles and personally encouraged them.

At games someone would share their testimony either at half-time or the end of the game while someone translated from English to Spanish.

We pray for language barriers to break down and Christ's Good News to shine through.

From August 11 to 18, we played a game and put on at least one clinic practically everyday. We worked with several church communities, 'basquetbol' squads, and homes for children. My dad, Robin, is the director of SA and said,

"This team had the most basketball players of any SA squad to hit the field."

Grateful to God, our true Head Coach, for the grace and courtesy showed to us by the Guatemalan people.

We strive to be more than just competitors, as a Sports Ambassador, we train to be 3 dimensional.
